Everything Everything
Ugliness can be captivating, engrossing and, when used right, beautiful.
Everything Everything have known this since their debut. The Manchester quartet fused indie-pop with visions of a Love Island style reality show drone bombed on the first song of their first album, and they’ve never stopped their polymerization of fascinatingly horrifying and ruthlessly charming.
Their newest, Raw Data Feel, is all that hypnotic dissonance fed through the guise of an absurdly catchy dance album. Taking influence from trap, dancehall and a load of New Order, Raw Data Feel might be Everything Everything’s sheerest pop pleasure yet, all while lead singer Johnathan Higgs’ keening countertenor witnesses world ending meteors, car crashes and a call to burn down theme parks. The crack rhythmic section of bassist Jeremy Pritchard and Michael Spearman put down a note perfect foundation for Higgs and synth-wizard/guitarist Alex Robertshaw to dance above. We chatted with Higgs and Pritchard below.
